Adiron, Pomegranate, Mustard, and Straw, painting by Polly Castor

Adiron, Pomegranate, Mustard, and Straw

22″x30″

oil on paper

The name of this painting comes from four colors I identified in the autumn landscape that I limited my palette to, including the color of our daughter’s fuzzy life-sized crocodile (Adiron), the skin of a pomegranate, mustard, and straw. Identifying these colors in the landscape made for an evocative color palette to depict the season.
