Rocks at Sand Beach, Acadia

pastel

20″x25″

This is a favorite spot in Acadia National Park that I’ve returned to multiple times. I love the drama of the abstract shapes and in this case, the blueness of the shadows. Painted very much the way it was, it still feels like it is abstracted, for the shapes are more commanding than you’d expect. I like that at once there is peace and power in this spot.
